Alongside a great chassis and handling, the CC featured Koenigsegg's unique detachable and stowable roof, as part of its fully integrated design DNA – a unique trait among supercars at that time. Remember, this was before the F50 (which could not even stow the roof in the car) and the Carrera GT, where neither did a good job at making the car look like a perfect coupe with the roof on like the CC did.
The Koenigsegg CC featured a semi carbon fiber monocoque with integrated chromolybdenium tube subframes and reinforcements. This design was later developed into the full carbon fiber monocoque that went into production.
The CC was also the first Koenigsegg to feature the unique dihedral door actuation mechanism that proved both practical and truly unique. A mechanism that has defined the brand and set it apart from everyone else.
Scaling up
The scaling up of the shape of the first CC prototype from a design model to an actual car was done completely by hand (and in a hurry), by Christian and his team. This was why the car looked a bit rough around the edges and proportions seemed a bit off. However, the CC did serve its purpose as a great testing mule and press car, getting attention and showing the promise of Koenigsegg in its startup days.
